About this artist:

Rebecca Killen Ceramics is an award winning homeware brand founded by designer-maker Rebecca Killen. From her studio based in County Down, Rebecca designs and creates unique products for the home using fine bone china, cobalt and hints of gold lustre. The work, inspired by traditional blue and white patterns, is nostalgic in form and decorated using hand painted designs and ceramic transfers. Rebecca uses the industrial process of slip casting which gives her complete control and influence at each part of the making practice. Plaster moulds are used to cast the liquid bone china before firing. She then applies the individual designs to her work using hand painted designs, ceramic transfers and lustres. Each piece, glazed on both the inside and out is suitable for functional and decorative use, whether it be for holding a posy of flowers or a decorative statement piece for the home.

The Homegrown Collection was launched April 2017 to complement the existing Cobalt Collection. The Homegrown Collection celebrates local historic industry, in which Rebecca creates moulds from antique bottles from local industries that are no longer in existence. ‘This collection is growing as I am always on the look out for beautifully textured bottles from around Ireland that give us a glimpse into the past’.
